The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada (APF Canada) is searching for a full-time Human Resources and Office Manager to join our team. By using your exceptional organizational and communication skills, you effectively manage the office administration and HR functions associated with the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada. The position reports to the President & CEO and is based in Vancouver, BC.


Major Responsibilities

  • Supporting the President and CEO on HR Management, office administration, and IT management;
  • Developing and implementing HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy;
  • Bridging management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances or other issues;
  • Managing the recruitment and selection process for new staff and the preparation of offer letters and contracts;
  • Supporting current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation and preservation of human capital;
  • Developing and monitoring overall HR strategies, systems, tactics and procedures across the organization;
  • Overseeing and managing a performance appraisal system that drives high performance;
  • Ensuring legal compliance throughout human resource management;
  • Maintaining up-to-date employee handbook;
  • Managing the overall general office administration, including coordinating leasing arrangements, purchasing of various office equipment including computer systems, laptops, telephones, photocopiers, office furniture, office and cell phone contracts;
  • Overseeing the Foundation's IT needs by coordinating with IT consultants for new purchases, existing hardware and software upgrade, quotation review, inventory report, troubleshooting;
  • Other duties as assigned in support of APF Canada.


Desired Skills and Abilities

  • In-depth knowledge of labour law and HR best practices;
  • Demonstrable experience with human resources metrics;
  • Knowledge of HR systems and databases, e.g. BambooHR;
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company;
  • Good technical understanding of standard office IT systems;
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in MS Office;
  • Superior organizational, time management and multi-tasking ability;
  • Exceptionally detail orientated and organized;
  • Displays tact, professionalism, and is able to work with organizationally sensitive projects ensuring confidentiality;
  • Excellent active listening, negotiation and presentation skills;
  • People-oriented and results-driven;
  • Excellent English writing skills.


Education and Experience

  • 3-5 years of human resources management and office administration experience;
  • Master or undergraduate degree in related field degree; or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training;
  • Previous work experience in governments, think tanks, and policy advocacy groups is an asset.
